"The more we practice switching our mindset when negative thoughts creep in, the stronger we make these pathways and the easier it becomes over time. Just like adding pounds to your back squat, it takes consistent effort over a long period of time to overpower the lizard brain and think logically about any big situation."
When it comes to health and wellness, consistency is king.
This is why Coast Range Nutrition Challenges are NOT based off body fat or weight lost, but instead we track consistency in the athletes compliance to the prescription their coaches gives them.
In our first challenge we had an average of 1.5 pounds of muscle gained and 4 pounds of fat lost on every client we worked with and in just a short 6 weeks. This challenge was no different except it was only 4 weeks! Same results.
While some lost more fat than others, the DIRECT correlation to the athletes who
Lost the most fat and gained the most muscle (again, not what we used to determine our winners) were the athletes who were the most consistent with the prescription their coach gave them.
We get it. Getting dunked in a tub means hair and makeup will have to be redone. Some don't like to put their head underwater. However the benefits and information you obtain from these tests is crucial to knowing what is going on with your body composition. Using just the scale can be simple, but it can wreck havoc on your mental game (did you see our blog in May on the Scale and the Mindset?).
Coach Brett talks about the data obtained from these tests, and the changes it shows your body going through more than the scale will tell you.
It has been almost a year since we launched our last nutrition challenge, which is way too long.
The last challenge reaped some amazing outcomes! The results were undeniable. The hydrostatic dunk results showed that there was 57 pounds of lean muscle gained and 335 pounds of fat loss among the 90 participants.
